E vírusok általában szűk gazdaspektrummal rendelkeznek, és az általuk okozott fertőzés gyakran tünetmentes, ugyanakkor bizonyos esetekben súlyos kórképek kialakulásához vezethetnek, különösen fiatal egyedekben. A patogenitást jelentősen befolyásolja a gazdaszervezettel fennálló koevolúciós viszony. A diagnosztikában napjainkban a molekuláris módszerek dominálnak. A madár-adenovírusok genetikai diverzitása és evolúciója még nem teljeskörűen feltárt, azonban a gazdaváltás és a környezeti változások fokozhatják járványtani jelentőségüket, indokolva a folyamatos monitorozást.","dsDescriptionDate_hu":"2026-04-30"},"datasetContact":{"datasetContactName":"Kaján, Győző László","datasetContactAffiliation":"HUN-REN Veterinary Medical Research Institute","datasetContactEmail":"kajan.gyozo@vmri.hu"},"dsDescription":{"dsDescriptionValue":"Members of the Adenoviridae family are non-enveloped viruses with linear, double-stranded DNA genomes. Bird-infecting adenoviruses are classified into the genera Aviadenovirus, Siadenovirus, and Barthadenovirus. These viruses typically exhibit a narrow host range and often establish subclinical infections, although certain strains may induce severe disease, particularly in young or immunocompromised hosts. Their evolution is strongly shaped by long-term host–virus coevolutionary processes.\nThis review aims to summarise the genetic diversity, evolutionary relationships, and pathogenic potential of avian adenoviruses, with particular emphasis on strains detected in wild bird populations and their epidemiological relevance.\nTo display the evolutionary relations of avian adenoviruses, a phylogenetic analysis was conducted using amino acid sequences of the viral DNA polymerase from representative strains of all avian adenovirus species. The analysis confirmed the clear monophyletic separation of the three genera and highlighted patterns consistent with host-associated evolutionary lineages. In addition, current diagnostic approaches, including conventional virological methods and molecular techniques such as PCR and next-generation sequencing, were reviewed. Molecular diagnostics, particularly PCR-based assays, remain central to wild bird adenovirus detection. \nClinical manifestations of avian adenovirus infections range from asymptomatic infections to severe systemic disease, influenced by host factors and environmental stressors. Increasing evidence suggests that host-switching events and ecological changes may enhance the epidemiological significance of these viruses, underscoring the importance of continuous surveillance in both wild and domestic bird populations.","dsDescriptionDate":"2026-04-30"},"author":[{"authorName":"Máté, Lilla Katalin","authorAffiliation":"HUN-REN Veterinary Medical Research Institute","authorIdentifierScheme":"ScopusID","authorIdentifier":"59307575700"},{"authorName":"Harrach, Balázs","authorAffiliation":"HUN-REN Veterinary Medical Research Institute","authorIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","authorIdentifier":"0000-0002-1410-6469"},{"authorName":"Kaján, Győző László","authorAffiliation":"HUN-REN Veterinary Medical Research Institute","authorIdentifierScheme":"ORCID","authorIdentifier":"0000-0001-8213-8238"}],"@id":"https://hdl.handle.net/21.15109/ARP/IFCSOJ","@type":["ore:Aggregation","schema:Dataset"],"schema:version":"1.0","schema:name":"Supplementary data – Wild bird adenoviruses – Máté, 2026","schema:dateModified":"2026-06-04 15:54:45.517","schema:datePublished":"2026-06-04","schema:creativeWorkStatus":"RELEASED","schema:license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0","dvcore:fileTermsOfAccess":{"dvcore:fileRequestAccess":true},"schema:includedInDataCatalog":"ARP","schema:isPartOf":{"schema:name":"Molecular Virology Dataverse","@id":"https://repo.researchdata.hu/dataverse/HUN-REN_VMRI_Molecular_Virology","schema:isPartOf":{"schema:name":"Veterinary Medical Research Institute (ÁTKI)","@id":"https://repo.researchdata.hu/dataverse/vmri","schema:isPartOf":{"schema:name":"Hungarian Research Network","@id":"https://repo.researchdata.hu/dataverse/hun-ren","schema:description":"
A HUN-REN Magyar Kutatási Hálózat intézményi tárolója
\nA HUN-REN Magyar Kutatási Hálózat a magyar tudományos élet alappillérét jelentő kutatási hálózat.
