Metadata are data about data. The last 15 years saw an increasing need of assigning metadata to experimental data including spectroscopic ones. This fact was due to the requirement of making scientific publications open-access and, apart from non-proprietary research, of depositing raw experimental data (after some embargo time) into open-access repositories. |
