Our psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic research investigates the mentally plausible processes, representational systems, and neural correlates of language ability, using cognitive science models and experimental methods. We explore how social and cognitive factors influence language development, and how language functions in various disorders (e.g., autism, aphasia). We pay particular attention to the relationship between word order, attention, and memory, as well as the role of ‘inner speech’ in thought and learning. Using the investigative tools of cognitive science, we also research the nature and development of pragmatic knowledge.

Pszicho- és neurolingvisztikai kutatásainkban a nyelvi képesség mentálisan reális folyamatait, reprezentációs rendszereit és neurális korrelátumait vizsgáljuk kognitív tudományi modellekből kiindulva, kísérleti módszerekkel. Feltárjuk, hogyan befolyásolják a társas és kognitív tényezők a nyelvfejlődést, és hogyan működik a nyelv különböző zavarok esetén (pl. autizmus, afázia). Különös figyelmet szentelünk a szórend, a figyelem és a memória kapcsolatának, valamint a „belső beszéd” szerepének a gondolkodásban és tanulásban. A kognitív tudomány vizsgálati eszközeinek a felhasználásával kutatjuk a pragmatikai tudás mibenlétét és fejlődését.
