The research group conducts comparative and historical syntactic research in several languages belonging to different language families (e.g. Slavic and Turkic languages, Egyptian, Romanian, Ainu, Ch’ol), including endangered Uralic languages (Khanty, Komi, Mari, Nenets, Udmurt), as well as in historical and synchronic varieties of the Hungarian language. Our research ranges from phrasal categories (nominal, verbal, adpositional expressions) to complex sentences (e.g. finite and non-finite subordination), and also includes semantic and prosodic studies closely related to syntax.

A csoport összehasonlító és történeti mondattani kutatásokat végez több, különböző nyelvcsaládokba tartozó nyelvekben (pl. szláv és törökségi nyelvek, egyiptomi, román, ainu, ch’ol), köztük veszélyeztetett uráli nyelvekben (hanti, komi, mari, nyenyec, udmurt), illetve a magyar nyelv történeti és szinkrón változataiban. Kutatásaink a frázisszintű kifejezésektől (főnévi, igei, adpozíciós kifejezések) az összetett mondatokig terjednek (pl. véges és nem-véges alárendelés), továbbá a mondattannal szorosan érintkező szemantikai, illetve prozódiai vizsgálatokat is magukban foglalnak.
